Make your classroom a hub of performance arts!

Not every student will relish the thought of grabbing the spotlight, so offer alternatives that still touch the theatrical spectrum.

-Encourage students (field trip time!) to view local performances and write reviews in the L2.

-Show videos of well-known short plays or stories brought to life. Discuss similar stories from their L1.

-Offer opportunities to write their own dialogues, whether it’s an everyday situation or a fantastical story!

-Discuss how language influences art and culture, and vice versa. Why is performance art such a powerful piece of expression?

-Have students write their own “characterization” (autobiography). Assign L2 descriptors to each “character” and put together a classroom play!
